Biography: Born in Helsinki in 1956, Christoph Schmidt grew up in Germany, where he graduated from a Jesuit high school. He earned his PhD in philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1994, where he has since taught in the department of German literature. He has published several books on political theology (in the modern Jewish and Christian context). He is presently working on a book on “communio”, the circle of catholic intellectuals (Jean Luc Marion, Josef Ratzinger, Christoph von Schoenborn and others) gathering around the legendary figure of the Jesuit theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar.
